Welcome to the
Community Sportsplex! |
Southern Tier Sports &
Recreation Development Center (dba The Community Sportsplex) was
established in 2002 to promote the moral, mental, and physical development of both
the youth and adults of the Greater Binghamton, NY community through
participation in sports and other recreational activities. The Community
Sportsplex is organized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation in New
York State. The Sportsplex currently offers a number of leagues and
programs in boys and girls lacrosse, field hockey, boys and girls soccer,
and will be adding programs and instruction in golf. Our complete
mission is described below.
Through
a generous donation of the Maines family, the Sportsplex acquired 33+
acres of land at the site of the former Conklin Sports Park on Conklin
Road in Conklin, NY. We have restored and reopened the driving range
and are in the process of building a new 2,500 sq. ft. Community
Center and Education Facility (pictured at right looking from the center of
the tee pad
area) that will house our offices and support several of our activities including the classroom training portion of a
number of new youth golf programs. Through the newly created "Youth
Golf Association", the Sportsplex will offer:
 |
-
USGLL (a golf little
league)
-
Hook a Kid on Golf
programming (a program of The National Alliance for Youth Sports)
-
LPGA Girls Golf Program
-

Eventually, our plans call
for construction of a larger indoor field sports structure at the site and
outdoor athletic fields.
